Rays Power Infra, a leading private solar park owner in India, has launched a 50 MW solar park in Madhya Pradesh.

The announcement was made at the recently held Solar Development Summit in Bhopal.

Madhya Pradesh is blessed with abundant sunshine and vast barren lands, so the establishment of a solar park will hugely benefit the state as it will help the flourishing industries there meet their energy demands.

The solar park will also set new benchmarks in generating power in a sustainable manner, the company said.

Rays Power Infra has already built similar parks in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh, which are offering electricity at lower costs. These parks have been highly successful benefitting large industrial houses and contributing substantially to the local economy.

Ketan Mehta, director, Rays Power Infra, said the company wants to replicate these models and bring their expertise in harnessing renewable energy for commercial purposes in a sustainable manner to the state of Madhya Pradesh.

“The Madhya Pradesh government is bullish on renewable energy projects and we are excited to take up this opportunity. We are committed to the development of solar energy in the state,” Mehta added.

Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a key solar energy destination in India.

In the recently concluded solar bid from SECI, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh emerged as the most coveted destinations for the project developers. Out of the 21 allocations in the DCR category, 43 percent (9) and 14 percent (3), are expected to be raised in Rajasthan and MP, respectively.

In a recent development, Welspun Energy Ltd (WEL), a power generation company in India, commissioned its 151 (DC) MW solar project located in Neemuch district of Madhya Pradesh.

Also ACME Solar, a solar energy producer in India, commenced power generation from the 25 MW solar project in Khilchipur, Madhya Pradesh.
