Silver Spring Networks, LED Roadway support Glasgow future city program

LED Roadway Lighting and theirpartner Silver Spring Networks got selected by Glasgow City Council to deliver the Intelligent Street Lighting systems for their innovative Future City Demonstrator initiative in Scotland.

The project will leverage LED street lighting from LED Roadway Lighting’s NXT range of luminaires and Silver Spring’s IPv6-basedsmart-city networking platform to integrate LED street lights, traffic cameras and sensors into two adaptive lighting systems in the city center and along the Clyde Walkway.

These adaptive lighting systems will monitor all types of vehicles in traffic dynamically dimming and adjusting illuminations improving energy efficiency andensuring citizen safety.

Local authorities will have a purpose for utilizing their lighting inventory, but the benefit to the public will be great.”

The Future City Glasgow Demonstrator is a program designed to adapt technology to make life in the city smarter and sustainable. It is funded by the Technology Strategy Board, UK which invests in innovative projects to drive economic growth.

Silver Spring’s solution helps community to tackle economic and mobility challenges. This solution is comprised of IPv6 wireless networking platform managed with control software optimized for smart city devices.

Silver Spring’s smart city solution has been adopted in cities like Copenhagen, Miami, and Paris.
