Leviton launches 40A Charge Connector Assembly for EVs

Leviton has announced the launch of 40A Electric Vehicle Charge Connector Assembly, for the first time in industry.

Leviton is an electric vehicle supply equipment provider for RAV4 EV and Prius Plug-in Level 2 (240V) charging requirement.

Toyota has partnership with Leviton to support Level 2 charging for Toyota customers across the United States.

The connector assembly is specially designed for the Leviton Evr-Green group of electrical vehicles. It is rated to 40 amps or 9.7kW of power and complies with the Society of Automotive Engineers J1772 recommended standards.

Working closely with the automaker partners, we have developed a safe connector assembly that is designed for more than 10,000 operating cycles with more than 27 years of use, said, Manoj Karwa, senior director, EVSE Programs, Commercial and Industrial Business Unit, Leviton.

Currently, this assembly is being used in 3,000 dealers and in 11 different vehicle platforms as part of the 32 and 40 amp charging stations.

The Assembly utilizes an environmental-friendly, low carbon footprint connector housing as part of the sustainability commitment. A built-in anti-theft mechanism is provided to guard unauthorized use. The connector assembly is comes with a 25 feet of electrical vehicle cable.

The connector assembly meets the UL 2251 Plugs, Receptacles and Couplers for Electric Vehicles, UL 62 Flexible Cords and Cables and NEC 625 Electric Vehicle Charging System Equipment standards.

As electric vehicles are becoming popular, charge connector assemblies are in demand with higher rated current capacity.

The Leviton 40 amp Connector Assembly caters to the next generations of vehicles and charging stations.
