The Norwegian energy companies Statoil and Statkraft have awarded two contracts to Siemens Energy.
According to the contract, Siemens will provide U.K Dudgeon offshore wind power plant with the engineering, supply, assembly, commissioning and service of wind turbines.
Siemens will supply 67 D6 direct-drive wind turbines of SWT-6.0-154 type rated at 6 MW each, equipped with a 154-meter rotor.
The delivery of first consignment of turbines and installation will start in early 2017.
Once the plant is commissioned, Siemens will cover the operations and maintenance of the wind turbines for the first five years through a service contract.
The Dudgeon offshore wind project is located close to Sheringham Shoal, another wind farm established by Statoil and Statkraft in 2011 in partnership with Siemens.
Dudgeon offshore wind project is jointly owned by Statoil with 70 percent share and Statkraft with 30 percent share.Statoil is responsible for the construction and the operations of the plant.
Dudgeon with a production capacity of 402 MW will provide clean power to more than 410,000 UK households.
With Dudgeon, this project pipeline is extended for new turbine. This provides the opportunity to further ramp up production capacity, which is a precondition to bring down the costs for offshore wind, said, Markus Tacke, CEO, Wind Power Division, Siemens Energy.
Around 43 percent of Siemen’s total revenue is from green products and solutions.
