Hyde Marine to display Ballast Water technology at SMM

Hyde Marine will display its Hyde GUARDIAN Gold HG250G Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) at the upcoming Shipbuilding, Machinery, & Marine Technology (SMM) International Trade Fair, September 9-12, 2014, in Hamburg, Germany.

Recently, the Hyde GUARDIAN Gold BWTS has received Alternate Management System (AMS) Approval from the United States Coast Guard (USCG), a major step to achieve full USCG Type Approval.

The AMS designation will allow the BWTS to be used on vessels for five years after the vessel have to obey with the USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standards.

It is mandatory for vessels operating in U.S. waters with ballast capacities between 1500 m³/hr _5000 m³/hr to meet USCG Ballast Water Discharge Standards after first dry docking from January 1, 2014.

The HG250G BWTS provides flow rates up to 250 m3/hr and are designed to be skid mounted which can be easily installed in ships.

The HG250G BWTS is designed for retrofits, delivering compact footprints required for a growing number of ships.

Besides, the BWTS offers technological specifications anticipated to meet future BWT regulations including filtration of ballast water.

In addition, Hyde Marine will also demonstrate a new on-board ballast water test system, B-box, which was recently made available from the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ).

B-box is designed to help companies conduct accurate analysis regarding the concentrations of chemicals or organisms present in ballast water.
