Acciona has signed a $111 million worth contract with Actis and Comexhidro for the design, engineering and construction of the wind farm and will also be responsible for operation and maintenance for 15 years.

The wind farm will include thirty-three Acciona Windpower AW77/1500 turbines, each with a 1.5MW capacity.
The site is close to the Eurus, Oaxaca II, Oaxaca III and Oaxaca IV wind farms, which are owned by Acciona only.

The construction will begin in October and is expected to complete by fourth quarter of 2015.

On completion, the farm will generate enough energy to power 125,000 Mexican homes, while displacing 206,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide.

This agreement shows company’s capacity to materialize initiatives that create value, including EPC contracts for customers. The agreement strengthens activities in Mexico, where already with a strong presence, company aims to develop new projects, said, Rafael Mateo, CEO, Acciona Energia.

The Ingenio wind farm is Acciona’s second turnkey contract in Mexico, following a contract in April for two wind farms in Nuevo León.

Currently, Acciona has in total contracts worth 300 MW to build wind power in Mexico over the next two years.

In 2013, Acciona completed four wind farms in Oaxaca totaling 556.6 MW, catering to 28 percent of country’s wind power capacity.
