Trina Solar, a leading Chinese PV modules maker, says it is working at full capacity yet not able to meet the demands of its customers.

The case is same with other leading Chinese solar modules makers, says a survey revealed by the solar association in China. They would require expansion as the demand now exceeds capacity.

In its second quarter results, Trina Solar said its operating capacity is 3.4GW. By this year end, the Chinese solar panel producer expects to add between 400 megawatts (MW) to 500MW capacity solar power plants.

Gao Jifan, CEO of Trina Solar, told Bloomberg “Right now Trina is producing at 100 percent capacity and selling at all rates, yet we still can’t meet all customer demand.”

One of the reasons to the upsurge in solar PV demand is the new subsidies China has announced for smaller solar energy projects, which according to Goldman Sachs, will make selling power to the  country’s electrical grid much more lucrative for the operators and will cause prices of solar components to rise.

Following the announcement of excess demands and capacity expansion, Trina Solar’s stocks rose on Friday.
