Cree introduces the XLamp MH-B LED, a high power series LEDs that delivers better performance combined with low-cost efficiency than mid-power (MP) LEDs.

The XLamp MH-B LED uses Cree’s ceramic package technology that operates at higher temperatures than MP LEDs, enabling a striking 60 percent reduction in heat sink size and cost.

To achieve the same performance level it only uses up 26 times fewer LEDs than MP LEDs and is optimized to simplify LED system designs for applications.

Cree has once again invented a lighting-optimized solution that can lower costs and decrease manufacturing times, said, Frank Chen, technical director, Zhejiang Shenghui Lighting and Sengled Optoelectronics.

Chip-on-board LEDs are pleasing compared to MP LEDs in terms of reliability and cost, but they aren’t compatible with automated manufacturing processes. The new lamp finally gives a reliable alternative to mid-power LEDs, noted Chen.

In addition, it features EasyWhite technology and consists of a 5-mm light emitting surface that provides various system benefits including tighter beam angles, simpler optics, traditional appearance and easier color consistency.

The XLamp MH-B LED delivers up to 830 lumens at 175 mA and can also be used in assortments to tackle higher lumen applications of low cost such as high bay, outdoor area and downlights.

Moreover, it combines the manufacturability of Cree’s high power LEDs with the simplicity and performance of CXA LED arrays. MH-B introduces a new technology platform that gives customers the best of both technologies, while avoiding the limitations of mid-power LEDs, said, Paul Thieken, director, marketing, LED components.

This lamp is available in 2700K – 6500K with high CRI options.
