NTPC  to develop 1000MW solar projects in Andhra Pradesh

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) to develop 1000 MW solar power projects in Andhra Pradesh.

Under this MoU, NTPC shall develop 1000 MW solar power Project(s) at sites identified by GoAP on Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis, in a phased manner.

The MoU was signed between Arup Roy Choudhury, chairman and managing director, NTPC and Shri Ajay Jain, secretary to Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of Energy in the presence of Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh,  N Chandrababu Naidu; Union Minister of State for Power (Independent Charge) Coal and New & Renewable Energy  Piyush Goyal; Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Shri Ashok Gajapati Raju among other dignitaries.

The documents for transfer of land for 4000 MW Pudipadaka Thermal Power Project were also handed over to NTPC on the occasion.

NTPC recently commissioned their 50 MW solar power project  in Madhya Pradesh, India.

The project was undertaken by Tata Power Solar and will use domestically manufactured solar modules for power production. The plant is capable of supplying electricity to 90,000 homes in a year, the company claims.
