DuPont and Yingli Solar have completed the installation of a 210 kilowatt roof top solar power project on the DuPont China R&D Center in Shanghai.

The project consists of Yingli Solar’s monocrystalline PANDA modules, which utilize innovative new technologies.

DuPont and Yingli Solar established this project to model how solar power can be most effectively utilized to meet the growing demand for clean and sustainable energy. The significance of the project transcends its size, said, Chuck Xu, global business director, DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions.

Yingli Solar’s distributed generation team was responsible for the design, installation, and interconnection of the system.

It is expected that the project will produce 202,000 kilowatt hours of electricity each year, which is equivalent to electricity used in 670 households every month in China.

It is the 14th solar installation at a DuPont site. More than 11 million kilowatt hours of solar energy are produced at DuPont facilities annually.

DuPont China R&D Center solar has installed Yingli’s panels that maximize power output with their unique, n-type PANDA solar cells, which are made using new DuPont Solamet PV3Nx silver and aluminum metallization pastes.

For durability, DuPont Tedlar film-based back sheets in a double layer construction are used, with lightweight framing materials to decrease the weight and ease installation.

Yingli’s collaboration with DuPont is driving key advancements in photovoltaic technology, said, Yiyu Wang, chief financial officer, Yingli Solar.
