Siemens to sponsor CanWEA 2014 Innovation Zone

The Canadian Wind Energy Association (CanWEA) and Hannover Fairs USA have announced Siemens as the lead sponsor of “Innovation Zone”, a platform to showcase innovative technologies, reports Windpower.

The 30th annual CanWEA exhibition and conference will be held from October 27 to 29, 2014, in Montreal, Quebec.

As the lead sponsor of the Innovation Zone, Siemens will be demonstrating its current enthusiasm for the Canadian wind energy industry. Latest energy storage, smart grid technology, hybrid generation and solutions for operations in cold climate will be showcased during the exhibition.

It is great to sponsor the Innovation Zone at CanWEA, which reaffirms Siemens’ commitment to innovation, technology and sustainable energy management, said, Gregory Thrasher, sales and strategy manager, Siemens.

Wind energy is a mainstream power source and the technological innovation improves cost-competitiveness of wind energy, exploring new markets. The innovation zone will demonstrate latest wind energy equipment and detail about prototypes in development and research projects across the country, said, Robert Hornung, president, CanWEA.

It will be a vital learning experience that will bring together in one area companies at the forefront of innovation and CanWEA attendees, commented, Hornung.

As part of its sponsorship of the Innovation Zone and the CanWEA 2014 exhibition and conference, Siemens will display its D3-platform wind turbine generators that provide a higher yield and lower manufacturing costs. Siemens will also exhibit new generation of rotor blades that provide higher energy yields over a longer life span.

In addition, various company representatives will speak at the CanWEA 2014 conference on the topics of Emerging Challenges & Opportunities in Global Wind Energy Development, Energy Storage and Operations & Maintenance.
