Asian EV charging market to grow by 24.89% CAGR to 2018

Electric Vehicle Charging Station Market in Southeast Asia will grow at 24.89 percent CAGR during 2013-2018, forecasts research reports.

In the first half year of 2014, China produced 20,692 new-energy automobiles and sold 20,477, 2.3 times and 2.2 times over the same period of last year respectively, according to Research and Investment Prospect of China Electric Vehicle Charging Station and Charging Pile Market, 2014 report.

At present, China has determined 48 cities have the priority to develop charging station.

China Association of Automobile Manufacturers has issued the data on the production and sales volume.

According to them, the production had exceeded the total volume of last year, where sales of pure electric vehicle were 12,185 and 11,777 respectively and hybrid-electric vehicles was 8,700 and 8,507 respectively.

The major challenge faced by popularization of new-energy vehicles is the over slow construction of charging station.

By the end of 2013, State Grid had only built 400 charging stations and 19,000 AC charging piles.

However, the national goal kept in 2015 is that 4,000 charging stations will be built in future.

State Grid had to open the construction of charging station to private capitals in order to achieve this target. The project of connecting distributed generation to the national power grid and the field of electric vehicle charging facilities were opened to social capitals, which were announced recently.

Main operators of Chinese charging station and charging pile industry include State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), China Southern Power Grid (CSG), Potevio New Energy and Sinopec.

Main suppliers for electric vehicle charging equipment include NARI Technology, Shenzhen Auto Motion Electric Power Equipment, XJ Electric, Sieyuan Electric, Henan Senyuan Electric and Shanghai Potevio.

Construction of Charging Station and Charging Pile is palnned in Changchun, Harbin, Dalian and other cities of Northeast, Beijing, Tianjin, Tangshan, Taiyuan, Jincheng in Northern China and Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Hefei, City Group in Shandong Province, City Group in Jiangsu Province, City Group in Jiangxi Province of Eastern China.

Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Xinxiang, Xiangyang and other cities of Central China, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, City Group in Fujian, and other cities of South China, Chongqing, City Group in Yunnan, Chengdu and other cities of South East China and Xi’an and Lanzhou of North West China are other proposed sites for charging stations.
