As the auction winner takes home VW’s first fully electric vehicle, more consumers are invited to the brand as fun-to-drive, yet practical EV goes on sale, added Horn.

Alternative fuel vehicles, especially electric vehicles, have the potential to transform mass transportation by reducing pollution and oil dependence, noted Les McCabe, president, CEO, Global Green USA.

New e-Golf, Volkswagen’s first fully-electric vehicle is introduced as part of its powertrain strategy to offer efficient driving systems as part of the Think Blue, sustainability initiative.

It operates on a 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and produces zero tailpipe emissions, and requires zero trips to the pump.

Recently, the U.S Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) evaluated the 2015 e-Golf , at 126 city, 105 highway, and 116 combined Miles per Gallon of Gasoline Equivalent (MPGe), making it the most efficient car in the compact EV class.

The new model offers both environmental and practical benefits including the fun-to-drive design of the Golf family, supported by the MQB (Modular Transverse Matrix) design.
