oneM2M specifications get ready for action in diverse sectors

oneM2M , the global standards initiative for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and the Internet of Things (IoT), will discuss and explore the opportunities and value the new oneM2M specifications deliver.

The event, scheduled on Tue, 9th December 2014, in Sophia Antipolis, France, will host representatives from a cross section of market sectors including telecom operator, technology vendors, M2M service providers and end-user markets.

Mobility CTO Team of Cisco Systems and oneM2M Steering Committee chairman said, “The showcase is an opportunity to see the oneM2M specifications in action in a diverse set of sectors and applications, from smart homes to the connected car.”

Companies participating in the technology demonstrations include China United Network Communications Group, Convida Wireless, Eluon, Ericsson, ESMIG, Fraunhofer FOKUS, GridPocket, Huawei Technologies, InterDigital, Kamstrup, KETI, LAAS-CNRS, Lamprey Networks, LG Electronics, LG U+, Modacom, NEC Corporation, nTels, Personal Connected Health Alliance (Continua), Qualcomm, Sierra Wireless, SK Telecom, TELIT/ILS Technology and Vodafone.

The keynote by Aapo Markkanen of ABI Research will provide an overview of the M2M market, including the latest trends and developments. He will address the necessity to scale deployments to reach market growth projections, as well as why standardization is required in the diverse M2M landscape to accommodate dramatically increasing market growth.

Presentations from two global telecom operators will demonstrate the benefits and application scenarios of oneM2M specifications for the telecoms sector. They will address how operators can utilize oneM2M technology as part of an IoT platform.
