At the Sony Open tournament to be held in Hawaii, Recycle Across America (RAA) will join Sony to promote the company’s sustainability initiative.

During the event, RAA’s standardized labels will be displayed on the trash and mixed recycling bins.

The partnership is targeting a 90 percent recycling rate at the event.

In addition, Sony is donating one thousand standardized labels for recycling bins to local schools in Hawaii, planning to join more than 2,500 US schools in recycling movement.

According to this initiative, RAA’s standardized labels will be displayed on recycling bins at K-12 schools on the island of Oahu.

In 2014, Sony Electronics was invited by RAA to attend the Brand Leader Summit asking leading brands were asked to promote the standardized label movement.

On September 15, 2007, the company introduced the Sony Take Back Recycling Program, to encourage consumers to recycle and dispose of electronics equipment.

According to the program, consumers can drop off Sony products at designated collection centers free of charge.

In 2013, these collection centers collected 20,262 tons of used consumer electronics. Sony aims to provide a collection center within 20 miles of the homes of 95 percent of the country’s population.

In another development, Recycle Across America (RAA) has been announced by SERI as the newest addition to the R2 Recycling Leader program, which is designed to support efforts by companies and organizations to advance the responsible reuse and recycling of used electronics.

The worldwide waste is expected to double by 2025.

Currently, 100 million tons of discarded plastics are there in the ocean.
