Leviton has announced the launch of the next generation of electric vehicle charging station platforms for workplace environments.

The new pedestal system will be integrated with Leviton’s Evr-Green 32-amp electric vehicle charging station.

The company aims to offer a system that can deliver more than 15kW of power with a starting price under $1,300 to meet this growing trend.

This will be installed in such a way to provide single or dual electric vehicle mounting options so that two vehicles per pedestal can be charged at a time.

So far, Leviton has installed nearly 3,000 electric vehicle charging platforms at dealerships throughout North America.

In addition, it has membership in the Department of Energy’s Workplace Charging Initiative.

Constructed of durable powder coated steel, Leviton’s EV pedestal system provides ideal applications for either indoor or outdoor use.

The electric vehicle charging station pedestal system features Leviton’s proprietary charge coupler docking system that keeps the connector off of the ground while the cord wraps around the charging station.

Both the charging station and charge connector can be locked to prevent unauthorized use.

The pedestal is made in the United States and is fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Leviton has designed the electric vehicle charging station pedestals to meet the requirements of the next generation of electric vehicles, providing a cost-effective charging solution, says company sources.

In June 2014, Leviton was selected as the sole supplier of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) by Pacific Lighting Management for the Department of General Services (DGS) California Program Award.

As the approved supplier, Leviton will provide EVSE for local government agencies across the state of California.

In another development, Leviton was named by Kia Motors America as a preferred provider of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) for the Kia Soul EV.

As part of the agreement, Leviton will utilize its Evr-Green line of EVSE to provide electric vehicle charging solutions for Kia Soul EV customers and dealerships.
