Devolo plans to launch smart grid products in September

Devolo, a Germany-based powerline network solutions company, plans to introduce two new smart grid products to its portfolio in September.

According to a statement, the new products ‘devolo smart meter gateway’ and ‘devolo control box’ will be launched at the ‘Energietage’ conference in Vienna, and at ‘Metering Days’ in Fulda, Germany, both in September.

The smart meter gateway of devolo handles data security in powerline communication.  And devolo control box will allow network operators to control decentralised energy suppliers and consumers, such as photovoltaic systems, heat pumps, electric vehicles and thermal storage heating systems and help maintain stability of the mains supply network.

The company will also be presenting the results its G3-PLC pilot test being carried out in Hamburg and Berlin.

The core product of devolo is the dLAN (direct Local Area Network), which helps “simple, fast and secure data communication over the power line”, the official website says.

The company has sold more than 25 million dLAN adapters, the website adds.
