Smart grid technology changes the way utilities manage infrastructure, resources and data. Intelligent devices monitor the grid, report information and deliver remote access to control a variety of functions on a minute-by-minute basis.

The significance of this technology is seen in applications that help the utility promote energy efficiency, provide dynamic pricing options and improve reliability of service.

In another development, Landis+Gyr announced the addition of advanced grid analytics to its software as a service (SaaS) offerings.

This feature will enable utilities to access a variety of analytical tools from a secure environment.
