Greentech Lead Asia: Locamation, a provider of smart grid automation solutions in the Netherlands, has partnered with Beijing Shuangdian Electric to jointly develop smart grid solutions for the Chinese market.

The combined solution is expected to be available for use in the first projects this summer.

Under this partnership, the companies will develop a smart grid solution based on Locamation’s SASensor solution for high and medium voltage grids and will enhance Shuangdian’s offering for innovative substation automation. The smart grid solution will help Chinese power companies build and refurbish primary and secondary substations.

Beijing Shuangdian Electric provides smart distribution network solutions in China. The company claims to have 40 percent market share in the Beijing area in high voltage substation automation market.  Locamation selected the company considering its experience in the industry.

Locamation CEO Ton Jansen said, “Like Locamation, Shuangdian moved into the medium and low voltage segment of the market, delivering large roll outs as well as running innovative and comprehensive pilots like the Weizhou Island Smart Microgrid Simulation System which includes PV, EV, wind and storage.”

Locamation has 40 percent contracted market share in Dutch HMV substations with SASensors operational in more than 40 primary substations of the largest DNO in the Netherlands, according to company officials.
