American Solar Direct was ranked fifth in the residential solar market in the United States in 2012, according to a recent report from Solar Power World magazine.

The company’s installation touched 3.96 megawatts mark in 2012, the report said.

Serving California, the primary solar market in the U.S., American Solar Direct is experiencing tremendous growth, said Geoff Atkins, chief marketing and strategy officer of American Solar Direct.

“The fact that we were the fifth largest residential-only solar company while serving just one state represents clear evidence that our customer-focused, one-stop solution is the preferred choice for homeowners,” Atkins added.

ASD has installed more than 10 megawatts since its founding in 2009. ASD’s service allows residents to lock in a monthly rate through a 20-year lease that guards against utility rate increases as well as provides long-term system maintenance.

The growth of ASD is also attributed to its expansion efforts the year before. ASD opened additional offices and operations centers in San Diego, Santa Clara and the San Gabriel Valley area of Los Angeles.
