Canadian Solar’s total late-stage solar project pipeline stands at 1.4 GWp, same as that in November 2014.

The company could not add much to the capacity despite the fact that during the fourth quarter of 2014, 100 MWp of projects were completed in Canada and U.S.

However, the company has succeeded in expanding its pipeline across several countries including Japan, UK and China.

In Canada, the backlog of owned as well as EPC contracted projects, which are to be commissioned in 2015 stands at 275 MWp, including the sold off Glenarm power plant.

The projects and EPC contract backlog in Canada alone represent a revenue opportunity in excess of C$900 million for Canadian Solar in fiscal year 2015.

In Japan, the backlog of projects that will be grid connected in next 3 years stands at 606 MWp.

Out of this 606 MWp, nearly 262 MWp have full grid connection approval whereas around 100 MWp is in construction stage or near ready to start construction.

In Japan, the company expects to complete construction and grid connection of 80 MWp during 2015. However, two projects totaling 125 MWp in the Tohoku utility area are affected by some changes in curtailment rules, which the company is in an effort to sort out.

The company is also seeking several opportunities to expand its project pipeline in the Japanese market with at least 140 MWp of project acquisitions which are under negotiation currently.

In China, the backlog of projects that are to be built and connected to the grid in 2015 totals 320 MWp. Of the total 320 MWp, almost 90 MWp started construction in 2014 and approximately 30 MWp have already been connected to the grid.

The company at present operates 70 MWp of utility-scale power plants and 30 MWp of roof-top solar systems in China.

In addition, the company also has projects in late-stage of development in the U.S., Brazil, and the United Kingdom.
