Jharkhand to set up solar power plants in 100 offices

Jharkhand’s Energy department will set up rooftop solar power plants at 100 government office buildings, an official said on Friday.

“Khuti district court is first court in India to establish rooftop solar power. Similar rooftop solar power connected with power grid will be established on 100 government buildings,” Jharkhand Energy secretarycS.K.G. Rahate told reporters here on Friday.

He said: “Sixty-eight potential sites have been identified for small hydro power projects in the state.”

He said the Deoghar and Basukinath national highway is now lighted by solar power. The energy department has distributed 32,000 LED solar study lamps among students of Classes six to 10 in the state.

The energy secretary also said that 26,976 of the total 29,494 villages have been electrified and rest of the electrification work would be completed by this year-end.
