JinkoSolar has won new contract with Harsha Abakus Solar in India to supply 21.4MW of modules to a ground mounted solar PV project in Gujarat, India.

This is the first contract win in India for JinkoSolar this year. In 2013 the company signed two contracts:  one with Sunkon Energy to supply 5MW solar PV modules and another  with Enrich Energy in Solapur District, Maharashtra, to supply 25.8 MW of solar panels.

To strengthen its marketing activities recently the company signed PROINSO as its distributor in India.

The project is expected to generate approximately 34.24 million kWh of electricity and remove 30,000 tons of CO2 annually.

Upon completion, Harsha Abakus Solar project will be one of the solar parks commissioned under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission Phase II Batch I with a fixed PPA rate, the company said.

The project is jointly owned by Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited and Gujarat Power Corporation Limited.

Commenting on the success of this partnership, Xiande Li, chairman of JinkoSolar, said the project win and the local government’s support have given them an opportunity to grow their business in India and help diversify the country’s energy mix.

India is growing as a strategic market for many foreign players. To increase competition in the segment and meet the growing market demands, the Government of India recently decided not to impose anti-dumping duty on solar panel imports.
