SECI to develop 600 MW solar project in UP

Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) announced it will set up four solar parks in Uttar Pradesh totaling 600 MW in capacity.

SECI will develop the project in partnership with UP New and Renewable EnergyDevelopment Agency (NEDA), according to media reports.

The solar parks will be located at Jalaun (350 MW), Mirzapur (100 MW), Sonbhadra (100 MW) and Allahabad (50 MW).

The proposed land for the project spans over 1,200 hectares of which 715 hectares is identified for the Jalaun project

The project comes in line with the Make in India initiative launched by the ruling NDA government in India.

SECI project will also help Uttar Pradesh achieve its solar target of 500 MW by 2017.

SECI is the official agency responsible for developing solar projects in India.
