SunEdison and AT&T have jointly completed a 677 kW of roof-top solar project in Lancaster, Texas.
SunEdison has supplied 2,000 panels for this project with a 20 year power purchase agreement.
The largest AT&T solar project to date, the solar panels are located on the rooftop of its Lancaster distribution facility.
It is expected that the facility will make about a million kilowatts of energy per year, enabling AT&T to meet 40 percent of its energy needs.
Lancaster project is expected to provide a foundation for the growing solar industry in Texas.
SunEdison and AT&T first partnered together in 2010 and have since partnered to clean power eight AT&T facilities in 3 states, generating together 3.2 megawatts.
The installation of the solar panels, spread across three acres, began in October and got completed in December.
Last month in India, SunEdison and Adani jointly made announcements at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, to build country’s largest vertically integrated solar PV manufacturing facility in Gujarat.
Both firms will jointly invest about Rs 25,000 crore (USD 4 billion) to set up a solar park in Gujarat.
In another development, SunEdison signed an agreement with the Karnataka government to generate 5 gigawatt of power over the next five years, in India.
As part of the agreement, SunEdison will provide requisite technology and financing expertise to build a mix of solar photovoltaic and wind energy power plants across the state.
Last week, AT&T and GE jointly planned to develop the next generation smart energy solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things, aiming to modernize the energy industry.
Both companies are working together on proof of concepts at the AT&T IoT Foundry in Plano, Texas.
Through this joint effort, AT&T and GE will streamline asset connectivity for the grid.
