Grundfos Pumps India has achieved another milestone in its sustainability drive by installing a 51.84 kW rooftop solar plant at its headquarters, which is capable of generating 78000 kWh of power annually.

The solar plant will result in annual cost savings of INR 1,300,000 and reduction of 25000 liters of diesel consumption annually, contributing to a reduction of 70 tons of CO2 emission per year, Grundfos said.

Solar panels for this installation were procured from Aspiration Energy, a local renewable energy contractor.

The solar plant uses 216 solar photo voltaic panels (EMMVEE), each of 240 Wp capacity. The grid connected system consists of solar photovoltaic panels, inverters and connecting cables. As this system does not have a battery, its operation is simple and it remains a completely green installation, the company said.
Ranganath N. K., managing director, Grundfos India, said, “The objective of installing this roof top solar power plant is to reduce our consumption of diesel used for power generation. We took this proactive step towards becoming more sustainable by reducing our carbon footprint. This is our own contribution to ensure that we help create a cleaner and greener planet.”
Grundfos India’s headquarters had received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) EB Platinum Certification by the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) in August of last year.
