Intertek was enlisted as a certification body by C-WET, an autonomous research and development institution under the Government of India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), for wind turbines under India’s Centre for Wind Energy Technology (C-WET) program.
Intertek is the latest to join the group of certification bodies recognized by C-WET to test and certify complete Wind Turbine Generator Systems (WTGs) per IEC international standards and GL Guidelines for safety and performance of wind turbines.
Wind power  is a rapidly evolving industry and it is more important than ever for manufacturers selling or installing wind power in India to understand the applicable regulations and standards, says Sunny Rai, regional vice president for Renewable Energy at Intertek.

By cooperating with this knowledge-based institution, Intertek’s services now align with C-WET’s goal to find complete solutions to address challenges and opportunities across the entire spectrum of the wind energy sector.
Services offered by Intertek include type certification, type testing, design review, compliance planning, component evaluation, field labeling, on-site inspection, and performance characteristics reports.
Intertek recommends manufacturers doing business in, or considering export to, India conduct testing and demonstrate compliance to standards, as evaluation of these factors is a required for compliance with applicable regulations.
Conducting an assessment of international regulations during the research and development phase of a new wind energy product will strengthen a manufacturer’s competitive edge globally.
Because Intertek offers the widest range of wind energy services, component testing can be done concurrently with system testing for offshore, large, mid-size, or small wind products.
