Siemens announced its deal with Pattern Energy to supply 65 wind turbines and 67 transformers for the Amazon Wind Farm (Fowler Ridge).

The size of the onshore wind project in Indiana, which has 150 megawatts capacity, will provide eco-friendly electricity to Amazon Web Services’ data center. Pattern Energy is planning to start installation in July, while commissioning is expected in the first quarter of 2016.

Siemens will also be providing long-term service for the wind turbines. In addition, Siemens Financial Services (SFS) will be providing $150 million of construction financing for Fowler Ridge.

The company said the model SWT-2.3-108 wind turbines each have a capacity of 2.3 MW and a rotor diameter of 108 meters. Siemens will assemble the nacelles for this project in Hutchinson, Kansas, while Rotor blades for the turbines are manufactured in Fort Madison, Iowa.

The company will produce the Mount Generation Step up (GSU) transformers for the project at its plant located in Jackson, Mississippi, said Siemens.
