Denmark-based wind turbine manufacturer Vestas has received order for an 83-megawatt wind project in Turkey. The company has also won orders for two wind power plants — La Mesa (49.5 MW) and Ciudad Victoria (49.5 MW) — in the northeastern state of Tamaulipas, Mexico.

In Turkey, the Yahyali wind project requires 25, V126-3.3 MW turbines which are to be installed by Bak Enerji Uretimi.

Vestas will supply and install the turbines besides entering a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 4000 service agreement. The company plans to deliver the turbines in the first quarter of 2016 and the project is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2016.

The wind farm should be able to generate 303,000 MWh annually on completion, which is adequate to meet average electricity consumption of about 182,000 households.

In Mexico, Vestas received the order for turbines from Isolux de Mexico for 30 V112-3.3 MW turbines. The contract includes supply, installation and commissioning of the turbines under a 15-year, full-scope AOM 4000 service agreement.

Vestas is expected to deliver turbines for the project during the fourth quarter of this year and commission the plant in the third quarter next year.

This was the second order Vestas received in Tamaulipas this month. The first order came from the 149-MW Tres Mesas project announced on May 8.

The project added 248 MW of wind energy to the northeastern state’s electricity grid.

La Mesa and Ciudad Victoria wind projects are expected to produce about 367,000 MWh annually when completed. Their output is adequate to power 760,000 households, Vestas reports.

Vestas had installed the first wind farm in Tamaulipas — El Porvenir, 54 MW — in 2013.

And in Turkey the company has been working since 1984. IT has a total installed capacity of 846 megawatts of wind power in Turkey. The company has established wind farms in Istanbul, Balıkesir, Manisa, Çanakkale, İzmir, Afyonkarahisar, Hatay, Mersin, Kayseri, Sivas and Aydın.
