Vestas is to supply twelve V112, 3.3-megawatt wind turbines for installation at an upcoming 40-MW wind project at Basilicata in southern Italy.

The Cancellara wind project is to be developed by Eolica Cancellara, a subsidiary of Energreen Holding. Energreen is part of a Luxembourg investment entity operating in the clean energy market.

Vestas is required to supply, install and carry out electrification of the turbines and the electrical infrastructure the wind farm. The company is also required to undertake a 10-year Active Output Management (AOM) 5000 service agreement.

The turbines are to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2015, and they are planned to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2016.

The Cancellara project can produce about 100,440 MWh annually and can meet power requirements of about 116,000 households in Italy.

Vestas began project development in Italy in 1991. It has already developed about 3.5 GW of wind power capacity in the country. Globally the company has an installed capacity of about 68 gigawatts.

Last month, the company received turbine supply order for 99 megawatts capacity in Mexico. Isolux de Mexico gave order for supply of 30 units of V112, 3.3 megawatt wind turbines for the project. The La Mesa (49.5 MW) and Ciudad Victoria (49.5 MW) wind power farms are to be located in Tamaulipas, Mexico.
