D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments has started construction of the Red Horse 2 wind and solar project in Cochise County, Arizona.

The Red Horse 2 project is one of the first combined wind and solar projects in the U.S.

The 20 year power purchase agreement of the project is secured with Tucson Electric Power (TEP).

Swinerton Renewable Energy is responsible for the designing and construction in addition to ongoing operations and maintenance services.

The project is expected to provide clean power to more than 13,500 homes in the TEP service territory.

The plant will be the largest hybrid project in Arizona offering electricity at competitive prices to local residents.
