Georgia Power unveils EV charger rebate program

Georgia Power has announced the launch of its new electric vehicle charger rebate program.

Georgia businesses announced this two-year program and offer a $500 rebate for installing 240-volt Level 2 (L2) chargers.

It is part of a larger electric transportation pilot initiative and includes promoting public education, supporting community charging stations, enhancing charging options at various locations and offering rebates for customers who install EV chargers at homes.

Electric vehicles offer the customers a variety of benefits along with substantial savings on fuel and maintenance costs, said, Mike Hazelton, senior vice president, marketing, Georgia Power.

This initiative is designed to help build awareness of electric transportation, provide customers with the latest information and further stimulate the already rapid adoption of this technology in Georgia, he said.

Georgia is an EV-friendly state and Atlanta is the number two market for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

During the fourth annual AFV Roadshow in April, experts and vehicle manufacturers visited eight Georgia cities to engage with fleet managers and elected officials about EVs.

Recently, Georgia Power hosted many events in Atlanta as part of September’s National Drive Electric Week celebration to share information about EV products and services with Georgia drivers.

Georgianselectric vehicle owners can take advantage of tax incentives, register for free access and can save more through Georgia Power’s special Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) rate.
