India and Bhutan should cooperate on green business initiatives, says Bhutan PM

Greentech Lead Asia: Bhutan is keen to work with India to promote IT and green business in the country and make steady strides in these emerging sectors, said Prime Minister of Bhutan H. E. Lyonchhen Tshering Tobgay to CII.

Bhutan has good working environment and quality workforce that can effectively contribute to the growth of the IT industry, according to the Prime Minister.  India and Bhutan can work hand-in-hand and establish offices to ensure a secured back-up, added the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the country has abundant energy resources and has immense potential to develop alternative sources of energy. CII is keen to share its success stories with Bhutan and work closely in facilitating a win-win situation for both the countries, said B V R Mohan Reddy, past chairman, CII – Southern Region.

CII has proposed a Center of Excellence (CoE) on green business in partnership with Bhutan government. CII would be pleased to facilitate and handhold the CoE, Reddy added.

According to S Raghupathy, executive director, CII-Godrej GBC, potential areas of cooperation between India and Bhutan could be in energy efficiency, green buildings and waste management.

Some of the areas where CII is keen to participate in this sector are green building movement & certification, green building materials & entrepreneurship, energy efficiency phytoremediation, waste segregation & composting.
