Premier Solar has received the IEC 61216:2016 certification from UL for its solar photovoltaic (PV) module as per the latest International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.
This is the first certificate of its kind issued in the world following the revision of the IEC Standards in 2016. This IEC certification enables Premier Solar to access markets in Latin America, Europe and Africa.
The new IEC standards – IEC 61215 and IEC 61730 – reflect the emerging requirements of the solar industry in the face of evolving technology and variations in climatic and other environmental conditions.
There are several differences between the latest edition of the standards and the previous one.
Surender Pal Singh Saluja, chairman of Premier Solar said: “We have given the highest priority to quality of products churned out from our automated manufacturing facilities. This certification opens up avenues of opportunities for us in over 50 countries.”
Premier Solar has 500 MW manufacturing facility for solar PV modules and 60 MW peak for solar cells in Hyderabad. Premier Solar exports to 19 countries across Europe, Canada, Africa and Asia.
