PSEG Solar Source has acquired Columbia Solar Project from Hanergy America Solar Solutions.

The solar project is built on a remediated brownfield about 65 km northeast of San Francisco in Pittsburg, California.

According to a statement, the 25.4-MW facility, to be named PSEG Pittsburg Solar Energy Center should begin commercial operation in October once testing and commissioning are completed.

The solar project comprises 83,000 photovoltaic panels laid out on 105 acres. USS-POSCO Industries, which had owned the site, conducted extensive cleanup of the land under the supervision of California Department of Toxic Substances Control.

The solar energy project is covered by a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).

Blue Oak Energy will operate the solar facility whose engineering, procurement and construction was handled by McCarthy Building Companies. Hanergy America Solar Solutions had completed the development and managed the construction of Columbia Solar Project.
