Trina Solar Starts Mass Production of High-Efficiency N-Type Modules

Trina Solar Energy Solutions at RE 2023

Trina Solar, a leading player in the solar industry, has marked a significant achievement as it announced the commencement of mass production of its high-efficiency n-type modules and cells at its plant in Huai’an, located in Jiangsu province. This development underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing its capacity and offering increased value to customers in the burgeoning era of n-type solar technology.

In an impressive feat, Trina Solar achieved this milestone in under six months from the startup phase to the production of the first n-type modules and cells for Phase II. The remarkable speed and agility demonstrated by Trina Solar affirm its dedication to driving progress and innovation in the solar industry.

These -edge modules, known as Vertex N 610W, are built on the foundation of industry-leading 210mm rectangular silicon wafer technology and n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology. They boast a remarkable average efficiency of 25.8 percent, setting a new standard for mass-produced cells.

The Vertex N 610W modules are highly compatible with solar trackers, offering an impressive 13 percent increase in installation capacity for single-row tracker systems. Furthermore, the innovative and optimized module dimensions provide versatility for utility-scale, commercial, and industrial solar applications. They enhance the utilization rate of a 40HC container to an impressive 98.5 percent, thereby reducing logistics and balance of system (BOS) costs for customers.

The Vertex N 610W module, with dimensions of 2382mm by 1134mm, sets an industry standard, a move led and adopted by Trina Solar as part of its commitment to standardization and its Golden Size design concept.

Trina Solar has already supplied medium-format Golden Size modules to various projects, including two hybrid hydro-solar power plants in Sichuan province and a 6.1MW commercial and industrial rooftop PV project in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province.

To meet the growing market demand, Trina Solar has adopted an integrated layout in its manufacturing plants, ensuring a seamless and worry-free delivery of n-type modules. The Phase II production of n-type cells and modules in Huai’an solidifies Trina Solar’s capacity for n-type integration and lays a robust foundation for the efficient delivery of Vertex N 610W modules.

By year-end, Trina Solar’s n-type wafer capacity is projected to reach an impressive 50GW, with module capacity at 95GW and cell production capacity at 75GW, including 40GW of n-type cells, all equipped with n-type i-TOPCon Advanced technology. This strategic move highlights Trina Solar’s commitment to shaping the future of solar energy through innovation and enhanced production capabilities.
