General Electric (GE) has announced plan to increase production capacity of its Campinas wind turbine factory in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The annual production capacity of the plant is to be raised from 400 to 500 units.

According to a seenews.renewables report, the increased capacity will allow GE to add more than 1 gigawatt capacity to the grid annually. It is half the wind power capacity contracted in Brazil’s auctions for 2014.

Over the past two years, GE has attracted more than 100 new suppliers and encouraged the installation of six new manufacturing facilities of partners in Brazil, the report says.

The company also proposes to add three more service centres in Piaui, Pernambuco and Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil later this year.
