Gamesa to consign 46 MW of wind turbines to three Indian projects

Gamesa has finalized a deal to supply 46 MW of wind turbines for three farms in India.

The company is delivering 23 of its G97- 2 MW turbines.

Around 12 turbines will be provided for Ramnagar wind plant and 12 of Gamesa’s machines, while seven will be erected at the Lingsagur wind farm.

The remaining four will be installed at the Chandargh farm.

Chandargh is in south-west India and the other two are located in the north of the country.

Names of the customers and the value of the deal were not disclosed by the company.

After the central bank announced a 25 basis point benchmark rate cut, Gamesa improved its viewpoint for the Indian market.

The rate cut was predicted to facilitate the financing for renewable energy schemes, aiming new investors.

In November, Gamesa has inaugurated a nacelle facility in Mamandur, near Chennai, in India.

The facility was scheduled to produce G114-2.0 MW turbine model, which Gamesa expects to introduce into the Indian market over the course of 2015.

The firm also proposes to install 86 G97-2MW turbines in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan and Maharashtra.

In Oct 2014, Gamesa revealed its plans to produce 700MW of wind energy in India, with an aim to invest more in offshore business.

The 700MW 2014 figure will be an increase from 400MW in 2013. Gamesa hoped for a double-digit growth for each of the next five years in what has become one of the company’s key markets, stated, Ignacio Martin, executive chairman, Gamesa.

In 2013, Gamesa India was the leading multinational wind turbines seller in India.
