ECOtality installs Blink charging stations at Lloyd Center in Portland

By Greentech Lead America: ECOtality, a provider in clean
electric transportation and storage technologies, and Glimcher, a real estate
investment trust, have completed four Blink Wall Mount electric vehicle
charging stations located at the Glimcher’s Lloyd Center in Portland.

“Our partnership with Glimcher’s Lloyd Center will
go a long way in providing an alternative to fossil fuels for EV drivers in
Portland. Building a sustainable infrastructure means offering EV drivers the
opportunity to integrate the responsibilities of daily life, with the ability
to charge their vehicles along the way,” said Colin Read, VP of Corporate
Development at ECOtality.

Lloyd Center is one of the city’s retail landmarks. The
addition of the new charging stations is part of Glimcher’s overall
sustainability efforts, which include a robust recycling program,
environmentally friendly cleaning supplies and renewable energy.

“Sustainability is an important part of property
management,” said Charlie Kretzer, director of Operations at Glimcher.
“We are pleased to partner with ECOtality to bring this focus outside of
the mall to our shoppers in a convenient and cost-effective manner.”

The Blink Network of charging
stations provides EV drivers the freedom to travel as they choose and
conveniently charge at Blink commercial locations along the way. Blink Network
offers local incentive programs, reservation systems, and enhanced Blink
Network capabilities to its Members.

ECOtality is the project manager of The EV Project, a
research initiative to help build America’s future EV infrastructure. The
project will study EV infrastructure to support the deployment of EVs in key
markets, by collecting and analyzing data from vehicles and chargers. The
project funded in part by the U.S. Department of Energy through a federal
stimulus grant and made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act
(ARRA).
