Itochu has signed a power supply agreement with Google to support the tech giant’s renewable energy goals in Japan.

Under the agreement, Itochu’s portfolio company Clean Energy Connect (CEC) will begin providing service to Google in 2024, supplying up to 72 megawatts of solar power by 2026.

Itochu invested in CEC in November 2021, responding to the increasing demand for renewable energy to support generative artificial intelligence and data center operations.
