NHPC in pact with Kerala State Electricity Board to develop solar projects

Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has signed an agreement with NHPC to develop solar power projects in the state.

In the first phase of the project, NHPC will implement a 50 MW grid-linked solar power  project at West Kallada Panchayat in Kollam District of Kerala.

The agreement was signed between Kanwar Singh, executive director, Consultancy and Joint Venture, NHPC and K Valsala Kumari, chief engineer, Corporate Planning and Safety Commissioner, KSEB.

Kerala Power Minister Aryadan Mohammed, KSEB chairman and managing director M Sivasankaran and other senior officers of NHPC and the Government of Kerala were also present at the ceremony.

NHPC has an installation base of 5,702 MW from 17 hydropower stations on ownership basis including projects taken up in Joint Venture.  The hydro electric power generation company is presently engaged in the construction of seven projects aggregating to a total installed capacity of 4,095 MW.
NHPC is planning to over 10,000 MW of hydropower capacity by the end of XIII plan (year 2022).
