First Solar, a provider of solar PV solutions, has signed an agreement with XSOL, Japan, distributor and integrator of solar systems for the supply of First Solar’s cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin film modules in Japan.

The agreement has set a target of 100 MW DC installations per year.

First Solar has decided to invest $100M in mega solar power projects in Japan last year. Through this agreement with XSOL, First Solar can supply advanced technology to small scale projects also.

Karl Brutsaert, head, Business Development, First Solar, Japan, explained, “First Solar is investing in Japan’s energy future. This agreement with XSOL enables us to deliver safe and clean solar electricity on an even broader basis. With XSOL, we have to realize solar power’s promise in Japan.”

With the help of First Solar technology, 8 percent more energy is produced compared to crystalline silicon modules. In warmer climates, this technology in superior temperature coefficient results increased energy production.

Customers always value the differentiated technology offered by First Solar. Scientists have recognized the ecological efficiency of their solar modules, the company said. They already own a module recycling program that supports global environment commitment promoting solar power accessibility, commented, Akira Waki, director, XSOL.

By combining the quality performance and durability of First Solar modules with high efficiency and reliability, the advanced thin film solar modules can provide maximum energy yield.
