ABB launches ABB Terra 53 Z, one of the locally built fast charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles.

The auto firms Daimler and BYD have joined with ABB to develop the initiation facility to float the launch of latest Denza EV.

According to Green Car Congress, The ABB Terra 53 Z complies with the Chinese GB charging standard. Besides, these fast chargers are designed to fit into private and public parking lots.

With this high power DC fast charger compliant with the GB standard (rated power is up to 50kW), a 20-minute charging session could give a normal electric vehicle enough power to drive another 100 km.

The launch of the Terra 53 Z DC fast charger turns the Terra 53 series into the world’s first DC fast charging solution to offer specific types complying with the three global open charging standards: SAE Combo, CHAdeMo and China GB.

ABB plans to install the stations at many of its local offices, including Shenzhen, where the stations are being built.

The goal of ABB is to eventually build a large EV charging network across China, offering charging options to drivers in a bid to promote EVs.

The fast-growing market made ABB to bring its charging technology into China and improve the business.

Moreover, ABB will incorporate electric vehicles into its company fleet, demonstrating full support for green transportation in China.

China is pursuing a plan to get drivers into more EVs and hybrids, but the lack of fast charging networks has been a delaying issue so far.

The government has already announced incentives for EV buyers and it is estimated that the hybrid and electric vehicle sales will cross over the 50,000 unit mark this year.
