Trina Solar ’s State Key Laboratory Testing Center has received the Power Measurement Uncertainty Assessment Service (UAS) Certificate from TUV Rheinland.

The Testing Center is the first one in the solar industry to receive this kind of certification. The certification validates the accuracy of on-site power measurements recorded at the Testing Center.

All products assessed by the Center will carry a TUV Rheinland certification mark from now on.

Trina Solar received this Certificate after seven months of continuous tracking, identifying key influencing factors, technique optimization and rigorous on-site training.

This certification proves that the procedures, test equipment and staff capabilities employed during the process of power output measurement at the Center are in accordance with stringent International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard and TUV Rheinland strict valuation standards.

In addition, the certification provides clear guidance to PV manufacturers and buyers on the power rating of PV modules, provides opaque information about the performance, and minimize measurement uncertainty of PV module output.

In another initiative, Trina Solar plans to develop its power plants business and take it public by seeking a source of low-cost funding.

Trina’s U.S. rivals, SunPower and First Solar are in talks to set up a venture that will hold some of their power-generating assets.

Trina Solar expects to set up low-cost plants outside China to increase production capacity this year, in order to counter U.S. and EU tariffs on products made in the Asian country.

The company expects to spend $250 million-$300 million on its manufacturing business and about $1.1 billion on the downstream or power plants, business in 2015.

Trina was yet to decide on when and where it would list the downstream business.

The company expects to add 500 MW of cell and 800 MW of panel production capacity this year in South East Asia, India and South America to help bypass the anti-dumping duties.
