Chinese solar panel manufacturer Yingli Green Energy surpassed delivery of 13 gigawatts of solar panels worldwide by the end of the first quarter of 2015.

The company has reported in a statement that it has also touched the global production capacity of 16 billion kilowatt-hours each year.

According to Yingli, its global fleet is able to produce about 16 billion kilowatt-hours of clean solar electricity each year.

The capacity, in other terms, is almost adequate to meet the equivalent of Beijing’s residential power consumption last year.

Also, the energy cumulatively produced by Yingli Solar panels currently deployed around the world can offset about 9 million tons of carbon emissions each year. The company claims, it is the equivalent of taking about 1.7 million cars off the road.

Liansheng Miao, the chairman and CEO of Yingli said the company had made solar power and the associated environmental and economic benefits accessible to communities around the world.

Earlier this year, Yingli launched a special coating for photovoltaic panels designed to reduce the cost of operating solar power plants in harsh environments.

Yingli claimed its new range of panels “with anti-reflective ‘CleanARC’ coating developed by Enki Technology” required fewer rounds of cleaning, and were able to better resist sandstorms, mist from the seas, humidity and extreme temperature fluctuations.

The coating, according to Enki and Yingli, helped improve output of projects while also reducing pressures of operations and maintenance.

Yingli announced the launch of the new modules during the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.
