Siemens has signed two long-term wind service and maintenance agreements including 132 SWT-2.3 turbines at two wind projects in Washington.

Summit Power based in Seattle represented these two projects.

According to the agreement, Siemens will provide an additional 15 years of service and maintenance for 43 turbines operating at the Harvest Wind Project and for 89 units at White Creek Wind project.

Siemens has been servicing the turbines since 2007 for White Creek and 2009 for Harvest Wind, since their commercial operation begun.

As the wind energy industry in the U.S. continues to mature, it’s important to work closely with customers to help maintain the continued reliability, availability and economic efficiency of their units over the long term, said, Randy Zwirn, president, CEO, Siemens Power Generation Services.

With the significant focus on R&D as well as advancing technologies, such as remote diagnostics and data analytics, it is possible to gain valuable insights that can help contribute to customers’ long-term success, added Zwirn.

At present, Siemens provides service for more than 3,100 installed wind turbines in the Americas and more than 7,600 globally, yielding 18 GW approximately.

Last month, Siemens Energy launched their new wind turbine model, SWT-3.3-130, designed for wind farm regions with moderate to low wind speeds.

The new wind turbine model is ideal to the wind conditions in Germany as well as Europe.
